The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov has said that the possibility of Russia repeating an “Ukrainian scenario” against Armenia is entirely realistic, citing Moscow’s military capacity and regional geography.

Speaking at the international forum “Security Architecture,” Budanov said Russia has both the means and strategic conditions to exert pressure on Armenia.

“In my personal opinion, yes, it is absolutely realistic. Geography allows it… and there is no point comparing the strength of Armenia and the Russian Federation. Everyone understands that,” he said.

He added that signals of increased Russian pressure toward Yerevan began to appear around two years ago.

Budanov also addressed the risk of renewed threats to Ukraine from Belarusian territory, stressing the importance of readiness and deterrence.

“We must be strong and ready for anything. Then no one will have foolish ideas,” he said, adding that international support remains an important factor in preventing new provocations.

According to him, preventing Belarus from being used again as a platform for military aggression against Ukraine requires sustained preparedness and coordinated efforts.

His remarks come amid continued concern in Kyiv over cooperation between Moscow and Minsk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously stated that Russia is intensifying contacts with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in an effort to draw Belarus into potential new aggressive operations.

Ukrainian officials continue to monitor developments along the northern border closely, noting Belarus’s role in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
