The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe announced the closing of the deal to acquire the ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) plant in Roman, Romania, effective March 31, 2026.

According to the press release on Thursday, this deal represents an important milestone in the Company’s strategy to expand its presence in Europe and strengthen its position in key regional markets.

The AMTP Roman plant is a well-known manufacturer of seamless steel pipes serving customers across Europe and beyond. By integrating this asset into its operations, Interpipe aims to expand its production capabilities, enhance supply chain efficiency, and deliver greater value to its customers.

Strategic advantages of the acquisition

This acquisition provides numerous benefits for both Interpipe’s clients and the Romanian plant:

  • Expanded presence in Europe: Acquiring the Roman plant strengthens Interpipe’s local production base within the European Union.
  • Enhanced supply chain resilience: Customers will benefit from a more diversified and reliable supply network.
  • Operational synergies: Combining Interpipe’s technological expertise and integrated steel production with the established operations of the Romanian plant is expected to improve efficiency, optimize manufacturing processes, and enhance overall product quality.

Luca Zanotti, CEO of Interpipe, commented:

The plant in Roman is our first manufacturing platform in the European Union and internationally, marking a historic step in our development. It perfectly complements our vertically integrated, value-added operations in Ukraine, strengthening both our geographic diversification and technological integration. As Ukraine steadily advances toward full membership in the European Union, Interpipe actively supports this integration in practice by incorporating the Roman plant into the Company’s global network to better serve customers with high-quality products, reliable delivery, and expanded capabilities. We welcome the Romanian plant team to the Interpipe family and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition, building on the strong foundation they have established.”
