The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the creation of a mechanism for transferring selected examples of destroyed Russian military equipment to museums abroad.
The initiative covers captured military equipment seized or obtained during Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. The equipment will be transferred free of charge for use as museum exhibits or in exhibitions.
The decision was initiated by Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Culture.
Transferring destroyed examples of captured Russian equipment to foreign museums will contribute to international documentation of the consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Museums in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark and the Netherlands will receive captured T-72 tanks for use in exhibitions. The equipment has been rendered inoperable, contains no explosive components and can be safely displayed to visitors abroad.
Such exhibitions will help provide international audiences with objective information about Ukraine’s struggle for independence and present tangible evidence of the war.
The project is also expected to contribute to cultural diplomacy and strengthen cooperation with foreign museums.
Together with other government agencies, the Ministry of Defense is working to raise international awareness of Russia’s armed aggression, maintain support for Ukraine and consolidate the efforts of partner countries to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
Ukraine previously launched the state-run TrophyLab portal, which gives manufacturers, engineers, researchers, laboratories and international partners access to captured equipment for the study of Russian weapons.
