European countries will provide Ukraine with equipment from at least six decommissioned thermal power plants (CHPs and TPPs) to help quickly restore capacities destroyed or damaged by Russia, First Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Denys Shmyhal reported following a meeting of the International Energy Agency.

"An agreement has been reached with Latvia, Austria, Finland, Croatia, France, and Germany on the possibility of receiving decommissioned equipment and delivering it to Ukraine promptly. This concerns at least six decommissioned CHPs and TPPs that will be transferred to Ukraine," Shmyhal wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the equipment will be transported and quickly installed, allowing Ukrainian energy specialists to rapidly restore the operation of key power plants damaged by Russia.

The Minister of Energy also noted that, as part of the IEA meeting, agreements were reached on €250 million in contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, as well as a separate US assistance program through the SPARK project worth $276 million. In addition, Ukraine will receive €71 million in humanitarian support from France over the course of the year.
