Ukraine exported 80,400 metric tons of bioethanol in the first half of 2026, up 10.6% from the same period last year, according to estimates by NaftoRynok. All exports consisted of undenatured bioethanol.
The European Union remained the primary destination, accounting for 93.0% of total exports. Another 6.9% was shipped to Switzerland, while small volumes were exported to Moldova.
Lithuania remained the largest market for Ukrainian bioethanol. During the first six months of the year, exports to the country increased by 19.8% year-on-year to 55,700 metric tons. Shipments to Poland also rose by 5.9% to 9,000 metric tons.
Romania recorded the fastest growth, with exports surging 17-fold to 8,600 metric tons. Deliveries to Switzerland also increased significantly, rising 122.8% to 5,600 metric tons.
At the same time, exports to several other countries declined sharply. Shipments to Bulgaria fell 72.9% to 1,400 metric tons, while exports to Germany virtually ceased, dropping 99.6% to just 30 metric tons. No exports were recorded to Hungary during the reporting period.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is gradually developing a domestic bioethanol market following the introduction, on July 1, 2026, of a mandatory 7% bioethanol blend in A-95 and A-92 gasoline, similar to Poland's E10 standard.
According to market participants, bioethanol was offered last week on an ex-works basis at UAH 64,000–67,000 per metric ton, including VAT. Solvent prices in the third ten-day period of July ranged between UAH 84,000 and UAH 86,000 per metric ton, including VAT, depending on the producer's location.
