Drones targeted two major Russian energy facilities overnight on July 14 — the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai and Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, one of Russia’s largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes located in Bashkortostan, according to Astra.
Residents of the area were the first to report a fire near the storage tank area of the Afipsky Oil Refinery. The Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters later confirmed that a fire had broken out at the facility following a drone attack.
“Fire occurred at the Afipsky Oil Refinery. Roofs, facades, windows, and fences of several private houses were damaged. Drone debris fell on the territory of two industrial facilities, causing a fire at one of them,” the regional authorities said.
The Afipsky Oil Refinery produces gasoline, diesel fuel, gas condensate distillates, heavy petroleum residues, and sulfur. A significant portion of its products is exported to international markets. The facility was previously targeted by drones on June 11.
Later on July 14, residents of Salavat in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan reported explosions and a fire near the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat complex. After reviewing eyewitness footage, Astra reported that the attack affected the facilities of Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, a major oil refining and petrochemical enterprise owned by the Gazprom Group.
According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel Supernova, the strike reportedly hit the AVT-6 crude oil primary distillation unit and Workshop No. 20, where high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is produced. The attack may have also affected a facility belonging to Rosneft-Opt, another company operating in Russia’s oil refining sector.
