Ukraine and Denmark are working to expand their defence partnership across key areas: financing Ukrainian production, developing anti-ballistic capabilities, training military personnel, and attracting additional resources for the needs of the Defence Forces. This was discussed during a meeting in Kyiv between Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov and Denmark’s Minister of Defence Jeppe Bruus.

Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Denmark for its consistent support for Ukraine and its contribution to key defence priorities. This includes support for the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), the Czech initiative, and the effective “Danish model.” He also highlighted Denmark’s role in the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, calling it an important contribution to the development of Ukraine’s air capabilities.

He further thanked Denmark for the rapid reallocation of funds from short-range artillery to extended-range munitions. This is an example of flexible support that responds to the current needs of the frontline.

Another important area is the modernisation of a training centre for Ukrainian soldiers. Denmark is continuing this project, which helps improve the quality of training for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel.

The sides also discussed the implementation of the Drone Deal between Ukraine and Denmark. Ukraine is ready to share its experience and battlefield innovations with partners. This forms the basis of win-win cooperation: Ukraine receives more resources for the front, while Denmark gains access to Ukrainian combat experience, data, and modern warfare technologies.

They also discussed the possibility of launching joint innovation programmes to support startups in the field of security solutions in both countries.

Another key area of cooperation is a joint anti-ballistic project. Ukraine is counting on support from Denmark and other partners in developing a European solution to counter ballistic threats.

During a meeting between the Danish delegation and Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defence for European Integration Serhii Boiev, the sides also discussed the possibility of unblocking funds from the European Peace Facility (EPF) for new contributions to Ukraine’s defence. This refers to €6 billion that could be directed toward critical needs of the Defence Forces.
