Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) systems play a key role in air defense, neutralizing more than half of Russian aerial targets.
This was stated in an interview with “Defenders” by Maksym Skoretskyi, head of the Electronic Warfare Directorate of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
“EW can neutralize an aerial threat even before it reaches its target. It suppresses control channels, jams navigation and video transmission. As a result, an enemy drone loses control before reaching its intended target or misses by a significant distance,” he said.
Skoretskyi explained that air defense is a complex system where different elements complement each other, and EW helps reduce the effectiveness of Russian attacks already at the approach stage. According to him, more than 50% of Russian aerial targets are currently neutralized thanks to Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
“I would say the logic is reversed. It is precisely because of our successful work that the Russians are forced to develop their systems. First we develop a new solution, their strikes become ineffective, and then they begin to evolve and improve their drones,” Skoretskyi added.
He also noted that in some aspects Ukrainian specialists are ahead of the Russians due to their ability to anticipate the Russian next steps.
