European Council President António Costa, following his meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, reaffirmed the EU’s unwavering support for Ukraine.
He wrote on X:
“The EU is behind you, dear Volodymyr Zelenskyy — today, tomorrow, as long as necessary,” Costa stressed.
In his view, the opening of the first cluster of Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations “made history.”
The President of the European Council also assured that the first tranche of the loan package to support Ukraine is “just around the corner,” with a particular focus on drones and defence capabilities.
“You and the Ukrainian people are doing extraordinary efforts. On the battlefield. And on reforms. It is paying off, across the board,” Costa emphasized, adding that “The tide is turning for Ukraine..”
