Air defense downs 113 of 142 drones in overnight attack

On the night of April 20 (starting from 18:00 on April 19), Russian forces attacked with 142 strike UAVs of the Shahed type (including jet-powered variants), as well as Gerbera, Italmass, and other types of drones. The launches were carried out from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea. Around 100 of them were Shahed-type drones.

The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, Ukraine’s air defense shot down or suppressed 113 UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmass types and other drones across the north, south, and east of the country.

Hits by 28 strike UAVs were recorded at 18 locations, along with debris from downed drones falling at 6 locations.
