The issue of Donbas is one of the key issues in Russia’s war against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“The issue of Donbas is not just about Donbas. Between us, I believe it is the issue at the heart of this war,” Zelensky said at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to him, this is a war “for survival” and “of attrition,” as well as a territorial issue that remains one of Russia’s objectives.
“And, of course, it is also a kind of stronghold for Ukraine in many respects. I said that we have strengthened our position on the battlefield and in the east, where the enemy is active and where it has more personnel,” the president said.
He believes that after the elections, Russia will intensify mobilisation specifically for this direction.
“In other words, many geopolitical issues are being decided there [in the east],” Zelensky stressed.
