Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.

They discussed the global consequences of Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, particularly its impact on world fuel, gas, and fertilizer markets. The President emphasized that the blockade creates new challenges and highlighted Ukraine’s unique expertise in addressing them. He also expressed Ukraine’s appreciation for Europe’s recognition of its contributions.

Special attention was given to combating Russian propaganda and preventing its spread in European countries. The President stressed that Russia seeks every opportunity and platform to whitewash its aggression, and that this must not be allowed.

The meeting also addressed steps needed to unblock negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s EU accession. Zelensky pointed out that the ongoing blockage of key EU decisions on aid to Ukraine by a single country is unfair and unacceptable.

Additionally, the parties discussed developing cooperation between Ukrainian and Italian state institutions.
