On the night of July 14, multiple regions across Ukraine came under a fresh wave of Russian drone and missile attacks, resulting in civilian deaths, injuries, and significant destruction to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land. Ukrainian authorities report that the strikes, which involved kamikaze drones, guided aerial bombs, and artillery, impacted at least six regions, highlighting Moscow’s continued use of terror tactics to pressure Ukraine behind the front lines.

Poltava region

In the central Ukrainian city of Poltava, five private homes sustained damage after a Shahed-type drone strike, according to acting mayor Kateryna Yamshchykova. The explosive-laden drones caused windows to shatter, two roofs to collapse, a structural wall to cave in, and several doors to be blown off their frames.

Emergency services were promptly deployed to the scene. A team of 11 specialists, along with heavy equipment, began clearing debris, securing affected buildings, and surveying the surrounding area for further hazards. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported in this incident.

Kyiv region

In the Kyiv region, Ukraine's air defense systems successfully intercepted around ten enemy UAVs overnight, as reported by regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk. Despite the interceptions, falling debris caused fires in both Bila Tserkva and Fastiv districts.

In Bila Tserkva, a utility building caught fire, while in Fastiv, a warehouse blaze led to the destruction of six cargo trucks and damage to a large hangar. Both fires were extinguished without casualties. Authorities praised the performance of local air defense crews and drone interception units, notably the "Clear Sky" mobile teams, which have become increasingly essential in countering drone threats around the capital.

Kalashnyk emphasized that there were no direct hits on critical infrastructure, and civilian casualties were avoided. However, the psychological toll of recurring air raid alerts and nightly drone threats continues to weigh heavily on local residents.

Kharkiv region

In the northeast, Russian forces intensified their assault on Kharkiv and surrounding settlements. A 46-year-old man was killed in the village of Vilkhuvatka by the explosion of an unidentified object—likely unexploded ordnance or remnants of a drone.

Elsewhere in the region, three civilians were wounded: a 56-year-old man in Karaichne (Vovchansk community), and two elderly men aged 58 and 79 in Hrushivka (Kindrashivka community). Drone strikes hit the Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv city, damaging residential buildings and setting off fires.

Russian forces employed a wide range of weapons in their overnight assault on Kharkiv region, including one ballistic missile, seven guided aerial bombs (GABs), four Shahed drones, four Geran-2 drones, a Molniya drone, and several FPV drones. In Kupiansk, a private home and a vehicle were damaged, while in Kozacha Lopan and Hrushivka, additional homes and apartment blocks were hit.

Notably, wheat fields in Shevchenkove and Krasne caught fire due to drone strikes, adding to the growing list of agricultural losses during Ukraine’s harvest season.

Sumy region

The most lethal attacks of the night occurred in Sumy region, where Russian drones and aerial bombs killed two men, aged 50 and 55, in the Shostka community. Both victims were outside at the time of the strikes and died on the spot.

Four more people were injured in the attack, including a 7-year-old boy. The child and his 30-year-old mother were hospitalized. Another woman underwent surgery, and a fourth victim—a 30-year-old man—is being treated as an outpatient.

The assault caused widespread destruction in Shostka. Approximately 30 residential and commercial structures were damaged, including high-rise buildings, private homes, and a civilian infrastructure facility that was completely destroyed. Cleanup and emergency response teams continue to work at the site, assessing the full scale of the damage.

In the nearby Sumy community, additional drone strikes caused fires and damaged non-residential buildings. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in that part of the region.

Kirovohrad region

Further south, in Kirovohrad region, a Russian drone was successfully shot down by Ukrainian air defenses, but the falling debris ignited a wheat field. The blaze was quickly extinguished by emergency crews. In the Kropyvnytskyi district, another downed drone crashed near a private residence, but no injuries or damage occurred.

According to Governor Andriy Raikovych, the quick reaction of emergency and defense personnel prevented the incident from escalating, but the incident serves as yet another reminder of the persistent threat to Ukraine’s food production and rural infrastructure.

Kherson region

In Kherson region, one person was killed and six others were injured over the past day due to Russian strikes.

The head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported this on Telegram.

Seven apartment buildings, nine private houses, a cell tower, a summer cottage cooperative, and private vehicles were damaged. A market area was also hit.
