Ukraine has not received any official signals from Russia regarding a cessation of hostilities, despite statements circulating on social media. Nevertheless, Kyiv is announcing a ceasefire regime starting May 6 and is calling on Moscow to move from rhetoric to concrete actions.

This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

“To date, there has been no official appeal to Ukraine regarding the modalities of a cessation of hostilities, about which claims are being made on Russian social media,” he said.

The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine believes human life is incomparably more valuable “than the ‘celebration’ of any anniversary.”

“In this regard, we are announcing a ceasefire regime starting at 00:00 on the night of May 5–6,” he informed.

According to Zelenskyy, there is still enough time to ensure the ceasefire takes effect.

“We will act symmetrically starting from the specified moment. The time has come for the Russian leadership to take real steps to end their war, if the Russian Ministry of Defense believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill,” Zelenskyy added.
