Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, following another Russian attack, stressed that protection against ballistic missiles is a key priority for saving Ukrainian lives and called on partners to accelerate deliveries of air defense systems.

“This Russian terror once again proves that protection against the Russian missile threat is the most important task for saving the lives of our people. And this is a task that cannot be Ukraine’s alone, the responsibility of just one country,” Zelensky wrote.

According to him, Ukraine’s partners know how and with what they can help, while delays in supplying anti-ballistic missiles lead to casualties and destruction.

“Untimely assistance, delays in the delivery of anti-ballistic missiles — these result in exactly the kind of destruction and casualties that, unfortunately, we are seeing today. It is important to support the protection of life. I thank everyone who is truly helping!” the president stressed.

According to Zelensky, Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Ivano-Frankivsk regions came under attack overnight.

The president said that dozens of ordinary homes, civilian businesses and infrastructure facilities were destroyed or damaged in the strikes.

“This attack involved more than 70 missiles, a significant number of them ballistic, as well as more than 280 attack drones. More than 260 drones were destroyed. Our combat aviation managed to shoot down a significant number of cruise missiles, and even mobile fire groups were able to engage cruise missiles,” he said.

Zelensky stressed that, at a time when Ukraine faces a critical shortage of air defense missiles supplied by its partners, Ukrainian forces are accomplishing extraordinary things and demonstrating a very high level of professionalism.

“This is extraordinary professionalism that saves lives when deliveries of missiles for air defense systems do not take place or are delayed,” he emphasized.
