The U.S. Department of State has approved the sale of military equipment to Ukraine worth more than $100 million to support Hawk surface-to-air missile systems.
This was stated in a State Department press release.
“The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for Hawk Missile System Sustainment and related equipment,” the statement said.
The total estimated value of the deal is $108.1 million.
According to the statement, Ukraine requested the purchase of various spare parts and services related to the maintenance of Hawk air defense systems.
The State Department noted that the proposed sale will improve Ukraine’s ability to meet current and future threats.
“Ukraine will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces,” the State Department concluded.
