First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov spoke about the achievements of the Ukrainian startup CheckEye, which is developing an artificial intelligence–based product for eye screening.

“The war has not stopped the growth of Ukraine’s innovation ecosystem. Startups are scaling, entering new markets, attracting investments, and creating products used around the world. We support early-stage companies and help them realize their potential. This is another step in implementing Ukraine’s WINWIN Digital Innovation Development Strategy by 2030, aimed at driving an economic leap,” Fedorov said.

CheckEye is a Ukrainian startup that helps preserve vision using AI. The technology enables patients to detect eye conditions easily and promptly, while giving doctors a tool to quickly identify chronic diseases and prevent disability.

In 2024, the startup entered the German market with its screening solution. Expansion into Western Europe underscores the high competitiveness of Ukrainian medical technologies globally.

CheckEye received its first $25,000 grant from the Ukrainian Startup Fund (USF). A year later, USF continued its support at the scaling stage, providing funding, networking, and mentorship that opened access to European grants and international partnerships.

Key achievements of CheckEye over three years:

  • Raised $700,000 in investment
  • Operating in 20+ medical facilities in Ukraine
  • Conducted 10,000+ screenings
  • Running a pilot project in Germany and preparing for broader EU entry
  • Built partnerships across the EU

Grant support from the USF has helped CheckEye expand its product line and grow its team, ensuring the continued integration of its technology into international market.

CheckEye operates an international team based in the UK, Ukraine and Switzerland. Our shared credentials include decades of senior level experience across IT, telecom and health industries in global brands, higher education in the world’s best universities, and a profound understanding of the rapidly evolving healthcare trends globally.
