Containerised freight volumes reached 202,734 TEU in the first eight months of 2026, up 33% compared with the same period last year.
Valerii Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations at Ukrainian Railways, reported this.
The share of containers in total freight traffic increased to 4.4%, the highest level recorded in recent years.
According to Ukrainian Railways, 54,478 TEU of grain were transported by rail between January and August, 36% more than in the first eight months of last year.
Container shipments of oilcake and meal also increased significantly, reaching 25,082 TEU, up 62%.
Vegetable oil shipments amounted to 11,517 TEU during the reporting period, an increase of 2%.
Shipments of ferrous metals declined by 7% to 29,998 TEU, while shipments of synthetic resins increased by 63% to 12,633 TEU.
