Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) transported 22.155 million tonnes of grain cargo in the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 5.4%, or 1.144 million tonnes, compared with the same period last year.

The figures were reported by Valerii Tkachov, Deputy Director of the company's Commercial Operations Department, according to RAIL.insider.

Total export shipments of agricultural products reached 18.871 million tonnes in January–September 2026, up 1.3%, or 234,200 tonnes, year-on-year.

In September alone, rail grain transportation amounted to 1.422 million tonnes, up 9.8% (127,400 tonnes) from August but down 35.8% compared with September 2025. Average daily loading reached 47,000 tonnes, an increase of 20% month-on-month.

Grain shipments for export totalled 814,400 tonnes in September, up 21.2% from August. Including shipments to Izmail railway station classified as domestic transportation, the total export flow in this direction reached 877,700 tonnes.

Land border crossings were the main export route in September, handling 694,100 tonnes of grain, up 37.8% from August and accounting for 85% of total rail grain exports.

Shipments to Danube ports amounted to 149,900 tonnes, down 44% from August, accounting for a reported 17% share. The decline was attributed to temporary traffic restrictions on the bridge in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.

Meanwhile, grain transportation to the Odessa region ports totalled 33,700 tonnes, representing 4.1% of rail grain exports.
