Ukrainian air defense intercepted most of the 67 drones launched overnight

On the night of May 8 (starting from 18:00 on May 7), the Russian forces attacked with 67 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones (including jet-powered variants), Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones, launched from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo in Russia, and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 56 UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones, in the south and east of the country.

Hits by 11 strike UAVs were recorded at 8 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at 7 locations.
