In 2025, the SSU’s “Alpha” Special Operations Center forces halved the number of Russian Pantsir surface-to-air missile and gun systems with long-range strikes.
The Pantsir is one of Russia’s most modern and key air defense systems, with each unit costing between 15 and 20 million U.S. dollars. These systems are particularly effective against Ukrainian long-range drones.
The systematic destruction of Pantsirs serves a strategic purpose: to breach the Russian air defenses and create corridors for striking targets deep in Russian-controlled territory. This allows the Ukrainian Armed Forces to effectively target military bases, warehouses, airfields, and other Russian facilities.
It is estimated that the total value of all Russian air defense systems destroyed by the SSU Alpha in 2025 is approximately 4 billion U.S. dollars.
