A trilateral meeting of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, and President of Romania Nicușor Dan was held in Chișinău.
The Head of State thanked the peoples of Moldova and Romania for their sincere support for Ukraine and Ukrainians during this war.
“You see what Russia has brought to Ukraine and what it threatens every one of its neighbors with. In just the past 24 hours, and in Kyiv alone, there have already been eleven air raid alerts so far because of “shaheds” and ballistic missiles. In some of our cities and communities, air raid alerts and strikes occur virtually every day, constantly. We all understand how insane Russia is, and we must help one another, help in such a way that any threats to our peoples receive a worthy response,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders discussed joint work in the energy sector and the infrastructure that connects Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania and constitutes a significant part of the economic potential and national security of our countries.
“It is important that everything that truly can contribute to the strength of our nations actually does so. And we have such agreements between us, between our governments,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
The Head of State noted that Ukraine particularly values the readiness to cooperate so that the export Solidarity Lanes in our region can operate at full capacity despite Russia’s attempts to block our ports and trade through the Black Sea.
“We are natural allies with Moldova and Romania in logistics, energy, and many other areas – and it is important to build on this. This is what makes all of us stronger,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders also discussed security and defense cooperation. Ukraine is ready to support the development of the security capabilities of Moldova and Romania.
“The leaders know the details, and we expect our joint steps to deliver results,” the Head of State noted.
Maia Sandu highlighted the importance of developing trilateral cooperation and called on countries that are able to help to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense ahead of winter.
“We have the respect of Europe and the respect of the entire world. Romania is a member of NATO and the EU. Ukraine is a country that, through its courage and innovation, is defending the entire continent from a brutal aggressor. And there is the Republic of Moldova – a country whose people have defended their belonging to Europe,” the President of Moldova emphasized.
Nicușor Dan noted that Ukraine and Romania would continue developing bilateral relations in the areas of the economy, energy, infrastructure projects, education, and national minorities.
“Speaking about our relations, I am very glad that our countries stand together. And this meeting is further proof of that. Each of us understands our responsibility for the security and stability of this region. And we must properly build security for all of Europe,” the President of Romania said.
