On January 29, repatriation operations were carried out—Ukraine returned 1,000 bodies of the deceased. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian defenders. Investigators and expert institutions will carry out identification of the deceased.
The Russians claimed that they received allegedly 38 bodies of their soldiers from Ukraine.


The Coordination Headquarters noted that the repatriation was possible thanks to joint efforts of the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other defense sector structures. The International Committee of the Red Cross also assisted.
Previously, on December 19, 2025, Ukraine conducted repatriation operations, returning 1,003 bodies of deceased Ukrainians.
