At the largest European technology conference, VivaTech in Paris, Ukraine won the CitizenTech Award.

International experts recognized the country for its digital services that address societal challenges and make life easier for citizens.

Ukraine was honored for its advanced digital infrastructure and convenient online access to government services.

“This recognition reflects years of work on building a digital state. Despite the full-scale war, we continue to develop services that simplify people’s interaction with the state. Ukraine’s digitalization experience shows that technology can help a country become more resilient and efficient even in the most difficult conditions,” said Oleksandr Bornyakov.

The winners were selected by an international expert community from Bloomberg and VivaTech following a global selection process. Alongside Ukraine, other award recipients included:

  • Visionary Award — Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web
  • Leadership Award — Joe Tsai, co-founder and chairman of Alibaba Group
  • Momentum Award — Yann LeCun, one of the “godfathers” of AI
  • Breakthrough Award — Peter Steinberger, creator of the AI agent OpenClaw
  • Investor Award — Jeannette zu Fürstenberg, president of the venture capital fund General Catalyst
  • Rising Star Award — May Habib, CEO of AI company Writer

In recent years, Ukraine has built one of the most advanced digital government ecosystems in the world. The Ministry of Digital Transformation’s ecosystem includes 24 projects and initiatives that address the daily needs of citizens, businesses, and the state.

Today, more than 24 million Ukrainians use the Diia app. Through the app and the Diia portal, hundreds of digital services are available, allowing citizens to obtain documents, submit applications, access public services online, and interact with the state without unnecessary bureaucracy.

In addition to Diia, the government is also actively implementing other innovative products, including the Diia.City legal and tax framework and the Mriya educational app.
