In September, Ukraine exported 2.4 million tonnes of agricultural products, representing 46% of the required volume. This included 1.4 million tonnes of grain, or 38% of the potential export requirement.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi reported this during his weekly briefing with journalists.
According to him, Ukraine also exported in September:
- 444,000 tonnes of oilseeds, or 83% of the potential export requirement;
- 311,000 tonnes of vegetable oil, or 64%;
- 280,000 tonnes of oilseed meal, or 46%.
Vysotskyi noted that exports are developing in line with projected volumes. Achieving 45–50% of the export target is the objective maximum under current conditions. Of the total volume, 41% (993,000 tonnes) is transported by rail, 54% (1.3 million tonnes) via the Danube, and 5% (120,000 tonnes) by road.
“Without access to Black Sea ports, Ukraine can export around half of the agricultural products grown for export. Therefore, when we talk about the consequences of the port blockade, we are talking about the inability to export around 30 million tonnes of agricultural products worth approximately $10 billion during the current marketing year,” the minister stressed.
