Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with Benedikta von Seherr-Thoß, Managing Director for Peace, Security and Defense at the European External Action Service.
Ihor Zhovkva thanked the European Union and its Member States for the military support provided to Ukraine. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of ensuring the delivery of all types of weapons and ammunition in greater volumes.
The meeting included discussions on all possible mechanisms for supporting Ukraine, including the new SAFE instrument.
“Ukraine’s involvement in the implementation of joint projects under SAFE is mutually beneficial and will significantly strengthen the defense potential not only of Ukraine, but – in the near future – of the European Union as well,” Ihor Zhovkva noted.
The conversation also focused on the integration of Ukrainian and EU defense systems, the launch of joint production, and support for Ukraine’s defense industry through the manufacturing and procurement of military equipment, including drones, artillery shells, and long-range missiles.
The meeting was also attended by Simon Mordue, Deputy Director-General at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood, and Arūnas Vinčiūnas, Acting Head of Ukraine Support and Military Mobility Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defense Industry and Space.
