On the night of September 9 (starting from 18:00 on September 8), Russian forces attacked Ukraine with Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from occupied Crimea, S8000 Banderol missiles launched from the Sea of Azov, as well as 196 Shahed-type strike UAVs, including jet-powered variants, Gerbera drones and Parodiya-type decoy drones launched from the directions of Oryol and Kursk in Russia, temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:30, Ukraine’s air defence shot down or suppressed 165 Russian UAVs, including Shahed and Gerbera drones and other types of drones.
Russian missiles and strike UAVs hit 23 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at four locations.
