Along the entire length of Ukraine’s border with Belarus, efforts are underway to strengthen engineering infrastructure and build fortifications due to the threat of possible actions by Minsk or Moscow.

This was stated on television by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko.

“Significant attention is being paid to this direction: engineering works are continuing directly along the border line, and fortification structures are being built along the entire border with Belarus,” Demchenko said.

According to him, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also creating mine and explosive barriers in the most threatened areas to prevent the movement of military equipment.

“Overall, the border with Belarus remains a risk zone from which Russia — or Belarus, if it yields to pressure from Russia — could become more actively involved in the war unleashed by the terrorist state against Ukraine. In addition, the Belarusian side itself may attempt to destabilize the situation or carry out other actions using its own forces and resources,” the State Border Guard Service spokesperson said.

Demchenko stressed that Ukraine must maintain strong defensive positions so that every Ukrainian servicemember on this front has the ability to counter any threats that may come from the territory of Belarus.
