Ukraine’s national tennis team has, for the first time in history, entered the top 3 of the Billie Jean King Cup world rankings, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported.

“Historic achievement: Ukraine’s national tennis team has reached the top 3 of the Billie Jean King Cup world rankings for the first time ever—the largest international team competition in women’s tennis,” the NOC said in a Telegram statement on Saturday.

It is noted that this became possible thanks to a confident victory over Poland women's national tennis team (4–0) in the qualifiers. The wins were secured by Marta Kostyuk, Elina Svitolina, Oleksandra Oliynykova, and the Kichenok sisters’ duo—Liudmyla Kichenok and Nadiia Kichenok.

Currently, Ukraine is ranked behind only Italy and the United Kingdom. The Ukrainian team, captained by Illia Marchenko, will next compete in the final stage of the tournament, which will take place in September in Shenzhen.
