Last year, the number of transactions using payment cards issued by Ukrainian banks and financial institutions increased by 10% compared to 2024, while the total value rose by 9%, reaching 7.16 trillion hryvnias.
This was reported by the National Bank of Ukraine.
According to an analysis of statistical data for 2025, the total number of transactions with cards issued by Ukrainian banks amounted to 9.51 billion, with a total value of nearly 7.16 trillion hryvnias.
“This is 10% more in terms of the number of transactions and 9% more in terms of value compared to 2024,” the statement said.
The National Bank уточнив that within Ukraine, 91.6% of all card transactions by number and 90.1% by value were carried out domestically last year, while 8.4% and 9.9% respectively were conducted abroad (in 2024 — 8.2% and 9.9%).
Most payment card transactions in Ukraine continued to be cashless. Their share increased last year to 65.4% by value and to 95.5% by number (in 2024 — 64.5% and 94.6%, respectively).
The most popular payment card transaction was cashless payments in retail networks.
Payments made via POS terminals in retail and service networks accounted for 74.3% of the total number and 50.9% of the total value of all cashless payment card transactions (more than 6.7 billion transactions worth 2.38 trillion hryvnias).
Card-to-card transfers accounted for 26.3% of the total value (or 1.23 trillion hryvnias). By number, they represented 7.3% of all cashless payment card transactions.
Payments for goods and services online accounted for 13.9% of the total number and 16.4% of the total value of all cashless payment card transactions. This amounted to more than 1.2 billion transactions worth nearly 770 billion hryvnias.
The average amount of a single transaction in Ukraine in 2025 was:
- 354 hryvnias in retail networks (in 2024 — 330 hryvnias),
- 1,864 hryvnias for card-to-card transfers (in 2024 — 1,958 hryvnias),
- 608 hryvnias for online payments for goods and services (in 2024 — 561 hryvnias).
