The Druzhba oil pipeline will be repaired by the end of April, sufficiently for it to function, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“As we promised, by the end of April it will be repaired — not completely, but enough for it to operate. All the storage facilities will be repaired; that is a long process, but that is another issue. Will it be able to function? Yes. By the end of April,” Zelensky said in Berlin at a joint press conference with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
He added that he is confident Ukraine will cooperate with Hungary, noting that “we have good relations, and we must preserve them.”
According to the president, it is possible to build pragmatic relations with Hungary’s new leadership, or friendly ones — “but based on agreements, cooperation, and mutual respect, which only strengthens both countries.”
“Elections were held on Sunday the 12th. The Hungarian people made their choice. In Ukraine, it was also a great day — a victory of light over darkness. I think that is very symbolic. We are ready for a meeting whenever the new prime minister is ready. Friedrich (Merz) suggested traveling via Germany; we are offering our transport,” Zelensky emphasized.
