The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi seaport signed a memorandum of understanding with Batumi International Container Terminal LLC (BICT), according to the port’s head, Oksana Kiktenko, on Facebook.
BICT operates and manages container, ferry, and general cargo terminals at the Port of Batumi in Georgia.
This is the second memorandum of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port focused on cooperation within the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor. The purpose of the agreement is to attract cargo traffic through the Middle Corridor by expanding cargo handling capacities.
"The terminals of the Ukrainian and Georgian ports will be connected by a new ferry route and a road-rail ferry complex, being designed by the new owner of the Ukrainian port in accordance with the cargo handling requirements of the “Middle Corridor,” wrote Oksana Kiktenko.
“Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi port plans to become the largest TITR hub on the European side of the route,” emphasized Kiktenko.
