Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard stated that her country has confirmed its intention to join the Agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of Russian aggression, according to her post on X.
“Sweden has confirmed its intention to join the Agreement for the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine,” she wrote.
Maria Malmer Stenergard added that this is another step toward the creation of the tribunal, of which Sweden will be one of the founders.
“We must ensure accountability for Russian crimes against Ukraine,” the post reads.
On June 25, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the agreement with the Council of Europe on the establishment of the Special Tribunal regarding the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine at the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg.
