Security Service of Ukraine officers have detained another Russian agent in the Kyiv region. The suspect is a 40-year-old employee of a local chemical plant who, on orders from the FSB, was coordinating Russian airstrikes in Ukraine.
His primary task was to locate and transmit the coordinates of airfields, air defense systems, and Ukrainian drone production facilities of the Defense Forces in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, and Lviv regions.
Under direct FSB supervision, the agent conducted reconnaissance in these areas, marking military sites and UAV production locations on Google Maps to guide Russian strikes.
At the same time, he gathered intelligence through acquaintances, extracting information under the guise of casual conversations on unrelated topics.
The SSU uncovered the agent when he went to carry out a new task from his handler—to document the aftermath of a recent Russian strike in the Kyiv region.
Security measures have also been taken to secure Defense Forces locations.
During searches, authorities seized the suspect’s smartphone containing geolocations, photos, and other “reporting” materials prepared for the Russian forces.
Investigators have charged him under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The suspect is in custody without the possibility of bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
