Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained another FSB agent near Kyiv. The suspect was involved in preparing a new series of Russian missile and drone attacks on the capital region of Ukraine. His main “targets” for reconnaissance were local combined heat and power plants and positions of the Defense Forces.
According to the case materials, the individual was inspecting the perimeters of CHPs located in Kyiv and the region to assess and report to the FSB on the technical condition of energy facilities after previous strikes.
To do this, the agent recorded the external condition of energy infrastructure on his smartphone while pretending to be on a phone call.
In addition, he traveled around the area to identify the locations of the Defense Forces, including SSU units.
It has been established that the suspect received money from his Russian handler via a specially created cryptocurrency wallet to finance reconnaissance activities.

For concealment, communication with the Russian intelligence officer took place through an anonymous chat in a messaging app, disguised as communication with a recruiter allegedly hiring staff for a retail network.
According to intelligence data, the Russian forces planned renewed combined attacks on the Kyiv region using strike drones, missiles, and ballistic weapons.
SSU officers detained the agent “in the act” while he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target. A smartphone containing evidence of his contacts with the FSB was seized at the scene.
The investigation found that the preparation of new strikes was carried out by a drug-dependent resident of the Obukhiv district recruited by the FSB. He was identified by Russian operatives in a Telegram channel offering “easy money.”
The suspect is currently in custody without the possibility of bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
