Ukrainian defence technology company SkyFall and Canada’s Calian Group have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop and implement a training programme on the use of unmanned systems for the armed forces of NATO member states and allied countries.
According to a Calian press release, SkyFall will contribute its technological and operational capabilities and training expertise, while Calian will bring its experience in designing, integrating and delivering international military training and operational readiness programmes in line with NATO standards.
“Combining these capabilities will help ensure that training programmes reflect current operational realities and keep pace with the rapid evolution of unmanned systems technology,” the release said.
The partnership will also support the international expansion of SkyFall Academy and its ability to provide specialised training for military personnel, instructors and technical specialists in partner countries.
For Calian, the partnership will strengthen its defence training portfolio by integrating operational experience in the use of unmanned systems into its training, simulation and operational readiness solutions.
Over the past three years, SkyFall Academy has trained more than 30,000 Ukrainian service members, while Calian has trained more than 300,000 people over the past 40 years, supporting the requirements of NATO member states and allied countries.
“For Ukraine, this partnership expands access to NATO training standards and allied infrastructure, strengthens interoperability with partner countries, and supports the deeper integration of Ukrainian technological and training capabilities into the global defence ecosystem,” SkyFall Director Mykola Makovieiev was quoted as saying.
Ukrainian defence technology company SkyFall combines a large R&D centre, scalable production lines and the certified SkyFall Academy for training pilots, instructors and technicians. The company develops and manufactures the Vampire drone and also produces Shrike FPV drones, P1-SUN Shahed interceptors, communications systems, components and other high-tech engineering solutions.
Calian is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and employs more than 6,000 people worldwide. The company provides critical solutions for the defence, space and other critical infrastructure sectors.
