Seven people were injured after a Russian Shahed drone struck a Kharkiv–Izium passenger train in Kharkiv region on Wednesday morning.
The attack occurred at around 10:00 at a railway station near the village of Iskra. The drone struck the rear section of the train, causing a fire. The train was stopped and passengers and staff were evacuated, which Ukrainian Railways said helped prevent more serious casualties.
Seven people — both railway employees and passengers — suffered shrapnel wounds. According to Ukrainian Railways, most of the injuries were minor.
Emergency medical teams responded at the scene and provided assistance to the injured.
Initial reports from the Izium military administration put the number of casualties at six before Ukrainian Railways later updated the figure to seven. The strike comes as Russia continues attacks on Ukraine’s railway infrastructure and passenger services, including several attacks on trains in recent days.
