The Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning recommended that parliament support the candidacy of Serhii Koretskyi for the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine. People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported this.
According to him, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s submission on the appointment of Serhii Koretskyi was supported by 19 members of the committee. Three other members abstained.
Serhii Koretskyi was born on March 14, 1978, in Lutsk. He obtained higher education at Lutsk Technical University, specializing in "Mechanical Engineering" and "Business Economics," as well as at Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, where he studied "Oil and Gas Production."
He rose from the position of junior analyst at the Kontinuum group of companies (starting in 1999) to become the company’s CEO in 2007.
From 2013 to the end of 2018, he developed the WOG gas station network business as CEO.
After that, he launched his own projects. He was co-founder and chairman of the board of energy trader Centurion Group SA (Switzerland).
From November 9, 2022, he served as CEO of PJSC Ukrnafta and PJSC Ukrtatnafta. Since May 14, 2025, he has been Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
According to the Chesno Movement, in 2002–2006 and 2012–2014, he served as an unpaid parliamentary aide to Ihor Yeremieiev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the 4th and 7th convocations.
In 2006, he ran for the Volyn Regional Council of the 5th convocation from the People’s Bloc of Lytvyn, as well as for the Verkhovna Rada of the 5th convocation from the same bloc.
From 2007 to 2012, he worked as an unpaid parliamentary aide to Kateryna Vashchuk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the 6th convocation, who was elected from the Lytvyn Bloc.
