Russian forces struck a supermarket in the village of Mayaky in Odessa region on October 15, partially destroying the building, triggering a major fire and damaging several civilian vehicles.
The attack targeted a Tavria V supermarket using a jet-powered drone, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Initial reports from regional authorities indicated that four people were injured in the strike.
The supermarket sustained extensive damage, while several vehicles parked nearby were also hit. Firefighters, medical personnel, police officers and municipal emergency services were deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire, assist the injured and assess the destruction.
Commenting on the attack, Zelensky linked Russia’s continued strikes against civilian infrastructure to discussions about potentially easing international sanctions against Moscow. He warned that lifting restrictions would provide Russia with additional financial resources to continue its war against Ukraine and called for maintaining international pressure.
Emergency operations at the site were continuing, with authorities assessing the full extent of the damage.
