On April 7, 2026, Russian forces carried out a series of attacks on Kherson, Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to over a dozen others, including children and emergency responders. The attacks targeted both residential areas and emergency services, according to local authorities and prosecutors.
Around 10:50 a.m., Russian forces launched an airstrike on the village of Stepankivka using precision-guided bombs (GABs), injuring five residents. Among the injured were two boys, aged 9 and 14. The 14-year-old boy sustained shrapnel injuries to his temple and chest, as well as concussion and both explosive and closed traumatic brain injuries. He was hospitalized, and his condition is being monitored.
Simultaneously, artillery strikes targeted the residential Korabelnyi district of Kherson. The assault claimed the lives of three civilians: two women aged 71 and 72, and a 60-year-old man. Seven others were injured, including elderly residents aged 57, 60, 71, and 81. Injuries reported ranged from shrapnel wounds to traumatic amputations, concussions, and explosive and closed head injuries. Emergency services transported the victims to local hospitals for treatment.

The local prosecutor’s office later confirmed that the number of injured in Korabelnyi had risen to seven.
Later in the evening, around 7:00 p.m., Russian forces targeted a team of emergency medical workers in Kherson’s Dniprovs’kyi district using a drone. Three medical staff members were injured: a 48-year-old doctor, a 24-year-old paramedic, and a 42-year-old emergency medical technician. All sustained concussions and explosive and closed traumatic brain injuries and were hospitalized.
In the same Dniprovs’kyi district, artillery strikes hit the private residential sector, causing a fire that destroyed a household building and a vehicle. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. Local officials emphasized that Russian forces continue to target residential neighborhoods, putting civilians at extreme risk.
Kherson city and regional authorities have confirmed all casualties and injuries, and emergency services continue to provide medical care. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions.
