Russian forces launched 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 attack drones and loitering munitions overnight, targeting energy facilities and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, the Kyiv region and Kharkiv. At least 600,000 people remain without electricity, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Facebook.

"Overnight, Russia used 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 attack drones and loitering munitions against our energy and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, the Kyiv region and Kharkiv. This was a deliberate Russian ballistic missile strike specifically against energy infrastructure, which the American President had declared subject to a ceasefire," Zelensky said.

He described the attack as deliberate and unprecedented in scale, accusing Moscow of demonstrating disregard for Washington.

"Russia has never shown such blatant disrespect towards America. Russia does not consider the American President's statements strong. Unfortunately, at least 600,000 people are currently without electricity. The outages could become even more widespread," he said.

According to Zelensky, significant damage was recorded at 26 components of the electricity infrastructure and four oil and gas facilities.

"I am grateful to the repair crews, all Ukrainian energy workers and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for their efforts to deal with the consequences of this Russian strike. Unfortunately, there are people killed and injured," the President said.

Zelensky called on the United States and the international community to respond firmly, stressing that Russia had rejected an opportunity for de-escalation and had clearly chosen to continue what he described as a war of destruction.

"We are asking President Trump to impose strong sanctions against Russia, especially since the Lindsey Graham legislation, which was recently adopted and signed, provides the necessary legal framework. The American President has all the powerful and sufficient tools needed to bring peace closer through strength, justice and pressure on the aggressor," Zelensky said.

He also called for additional supplies of interceptor missiles for Ukraine's Patriot air defence systems.

"We are absolutely justified in telling the United States, Europe and all our partners that no country in the world should be left alone against such an irrational and warmongering actor as Russia," the Ukrainian President emphasised.
