On the night of January 27 (from 18:00 on January 26), Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack against Ukraine, deploying 165 attack UAVs, including Shahed-type (some jet-powered), Gerbera, Italmas, and other drones. Launches were conducted from Russia’s Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from Hvardiiske and Chauda in occupied Crimea. Around 100 of the drones were Shaheds.
The air assault was repelled by Ukraine’s Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00, Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 135 drones across northern, southern, central, and eastern regions of the country.
Impacts by 24 attack drones were recorded at 14 locations, while debris from downed drones fell at nine locations.
