Approximately 7,000 Ukrainian servicemen are currently held in Russian captivity, President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a briefing in Munich, commenting on prisoner exchanges.
“They [the Russians] have about 7,000 Ukrainian prisoners of war. We have over 4,000 [Russian soldiers]. This is good news because we previously had 1,500 [Russians]. Now we have a little over 4,000,” Zelensky stated.
He added that Ukraine is ready to conduct prisoner exchanges.
“If they are ready for ‘all for all’ — great. If they are ready for ‘1,000 for 1,000’ — not perfect, but good. And even if they are only ready to exchange ‘100 for 100,’ we can carry out the swap,” the President emphasized. He noted that any step in this direction is a positive development for Ukraine, and that the negotiating team has the appropriate mandate.
