Romania’s Ministry of National Defence surveillance systems detected a drone signal near national airspace on Tuesday evening, in the northern part of Tulcea County, Agerpress reports.

According to a press release from the Ministry sent to Agerpress, the target was identified approximately 20 kilometers north of the city of Vylkove.

In this context, at 19:17 the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations activated the RO-ALERT system to inform the population in the northern part of Tulcea County.

To monitor the situation, two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetesti at 19:22.

“The air defense systems are on combat alert and ready to intervene depending on how the situation develops,” the ministry said.
