Romania issued an air raid alert overnight into Friday, June 26, and scrambled a helicopter to monitor aerial targets near its border amid a Russian attack on Ukraine's Odesa region.
According to Romania's Ministry of National Defence, the Russian Federation launched a new wave of drone attacks overnight from June 25 to 26, targeting civilian sites and infrastructure in Ukraine near the river border with Romania.
"At 03:57, a Romanian Air Force IAR 330 Puma helicopter was scrambled to monitor the air situation. It tracked aerial targets located approximately 31 kilometers east of the city of Sulina," the ministry said.
The ministry also noted that at 03:47, residents in the northern part of Tulcea County received an RO-Alert emergency warning. The air raid alert was lifted at 04:23.
"No unauthorized violations of Romania's airspace or crashes of any aircraft on Romanian territory were recorded," the Ministry of National Defence added.
The ministry also stated that it has been keeping allied structures informed in real time about developments related to these attacks and remains in constant contact with them.
