The Romanian Ministry of Defense is beginning negotiations with Ukraine on joint production of UAVs that could also be exported to other European countries.

This was reported by Digi24, citing its sources.

At a media briefing, representatives of the Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed to journalists that Romania is starting talks with Ukraine on joint UAV production.

Discussions about the possible agreement are planned for a meeting at the defense ministers’ level.

The overall idea is that Ukrainian manufacturers will provide technology developed in real combat conditions, while Romania will fund the production of components. The potential production site has not yet been determined but is likely to be Brașov.

The produced UAVs will be supplied to the Romanian army, and some will be exported to interested European countries.

However, journalists learned that the Romanian budget currently does not have free funds for a quick launch of such investments. Therefore, it is most likely that implementation of the potential agreement will begin in 2026, with funds from the new defense budget.
