In Poland, due to Russia’s missile strike on Ukrainian territory overnight, military aircraft were scrambled. Ground-based reconnaissance and air defense systems were also placed on high alert.

This was reported on the social network X by the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Poland.

“Due to the attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, carried out using airborne attack means, Polish and allied aviation began operating in Polish airspace. In accordance with current procedures, the Commander of the Operational Forces of the Armed Forces of Poland activated the necessary forces and resources under his command. Duty fighter pairs and an early warning aircraft were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were brought to the highest level of combat readiness,” the statement said.

It is noted that the measures taken were preventive in nature.

Later, the Operational Command reported the completion of the military aviation operation.

The Polish command thanked NATO Air Command, the French Air and Space Force—whose aircraft patrolled Polish airspace—as well as the Armed Forces of the Netherlands for assistance with their air defense systems.
