In the Odessa region, checkpoints along the Odessa–Reni route are operating, but movement toward Odessa and the border with Moldova is complicated due to a damaged bridge near the village of Mayaky.

This was reported on air by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko.

“The checkpoints themselves are working and can process citizens. However, movement toward Odessa is limited due to a damaged bridge in the Mayaky area,” said Demchenko.

According to him, this concerns the checkpoints Palanka, Starokozache, Reni, and Orlivka. They can process both citizens and vehicles.

The Border Service spokesperson explained that due to the enemy’s actions, traveling further inland from Moldova is difficult.

“We are conducting informational work and have involved Moldovan colleagues to explain to people that because of the enemy’s actions and the damaged bridge near the village of Mayaky, passing through these checkpoints further into Ukraine is difficult, so alternative routes are suggested,” he added.

Demchenko clarified that movement toward the border is also limited due to the damaged bridge. Law enforcement authorities are providing guidance to citizens.

“At the same time, if there were still queues on both sides of the road near the bridge in the evening, by morning people understand the complexity of the situation, that it will not be resolved quickly… there is no longer a traffic buildup near this location,” the Border Service spokesperson noted.
