A massive Russian attack damaged energy facilities in Odessa region, leaving a significant number of consumers without electricity. Emergency repairs began as soon as the security situation allowed, and energy workers are now restoring damaged equipment. At the same time, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said scheduled power restrictions are not currently expected on September 2.

Odessa region is facing the most difficult electricity supply situation of any region in Ukraine following another massive Russian attack. According to the ministry, Russian strikes targeted energy infrastructure in Odessa region, damaging facilities and leaving a large number of consumers without electricity. Efforts to restore power began as soon as the security situation allowed specialists to start work.
Power supply problems have also been reported in other regions of Ukraine. As of the morning of September 2, some consumers in Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kherson regions remained without electricity due to hostilities and attacks on energy facilities.
The Energy Ministry stressed that restoration work is underway wherever the security situation permits. Energy company specialists are working to repair the damage and restore stable electricity supplies.
Despite the difficult situation in Odessa region, no scheduled electricity consumption restrictions are currently expected on September 2. However, the ministry urged residents of Odessa region and other parts of the country to use electricity responsibly.
Consumers are being asked, where possible, to shift their most energy-intensive activities to the daytime period between 10:00 and 16:00. This applies particularly to high-powered electrical appliances that place additional strain on the grid. Energy workers are also urging consumers to limit the use of high-powered household appliances during the evening peak between 18:00 and 22:00. Demand on the power system traditionally increases during these hours, and reducing consumption helps operators maintain its stability.
The main priority for energy workers in Odessa region remains restoring damaged infrastructure as quickly as possible. Given the scale of the damage caused by the strikes, the timeframe for full restoration will depend on the security situation and the technical condition of individual energy facilities.
