In the Primorskyi district of Odessa, a city council deputy was found dead in the morning of April 20. This was reported by the police of Odessa region.
“The man’s body was found in a car on one of the city’s streets. It has been preliminarily established that he may have committed suicide using a firearm,” the statement said.
A police investigative team is working at the scene, and law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident. The Odessa outlet Dumskaya, citing its own sources, reports that the deceased city council deputy is Oleksandr Ivanytskyi, who according to the city council website was a member of the “Trust the Deeds” faction led by former Odessa mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, and headed the permanent commission on housing and communal services.
Oleksandr Ivanytskyi was born on October 1, 1975, in Odessa. He had two higher education degrees—in civil engineering and law—and was a candidate of technical sciences. He worked for a long time in management positions in the construction and port industries.
He had been involved in politics since 2010. Over three convocations, he served on the Odesa City Council, where he chaired the permanent commission on housing and communal services.
